Well Bred Gleneagles Filly Strides Clear To Maiden Success
A drop back in trip saw the well-bred Daily Times (2f Gleneagles - Sunday Times, by Holy Roman Emperor) gain a deserved maiden win at Southwell on Thursday evening.
The half-sister to top juvenile Newspaperofrecord and Listed scorer Classical Times had finished a close second on her last three starts and was racing over the minimum distance for the first time in Thursday’s maiden. Allan Belshaw’s homebred raced close to the pace under Robert Havlin and asserted with over two furlongs left to race, racing clear as she approached the final furlong.
The winning distance of five lengths matched the fine style in which the John Gosden-trained filly justified favoritism and it would be easy to see her stepping up on class in the future.
