Satin (Australia) Wins Her Maiden At Listowel

Well Regarded Australia Filly Impresses On Return

Satin (3f Australia - Countryside, by Motivator) produced a smart performance on her three-year-old return to run out a clear winner at Listowel on Saturday.

The Jessica Harrington-trained chesnut was drawn widest of the field in the fillies’ maiden over a mile, but broke smartly to gain a prominent position under Ronan Whelan. Taking second at the three furlong marker, she was ridden to lead a furlong from home and drew clear to win by four lengths and three quarters.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “The Harrington team obviously thought a lot of her to run her in a Listed race last year and she was ready to start off today. Whatever she did today was a bonus as I don't think the track saw her to best effect as she is a big filly.”

Owned by Mrs S Kelly, Satin is the first foal bred by Crimbourne Bloodstock out of the unraced Countryside.
