Well Related Gleneagles Filly Makes Successful Start
The well-bred Angel Of The Glen (3f Gleneagles - Archangel Gabriel, by Arch) made a perfect start to her racecourse career when taking the fillies’ maiden at Thirsk on Tuesday.
The Hunscote Stud homebred faced ten rivals in the mile contest and was ridden to chase the leaders by Clifford Lee. Making headway from over two furlongs out, she led approaching the final furlong and kept on well under pressure to win by half a length, as the front three drew clear of the field.
Trained by Karl Burke, Angel Of The Glen is the first foal out of the mare, an unraced full-sister to Grade 1 winner Prince Arch and black-type produces Arty Crafty. She hails from the first crop of Gleneagles, who on this day in 2015, won the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes by two and a half lengths.
