Well-Related Gleneagles Filly Makes Winning Debut
The well-bred Purple Ribbon (3f Gleneagles - Crimson Ribbon, by Lemon Drop Kid) made a perfect start to her racecourse career in the fillies’ maiden at Chelmsford on Thursday.
Trained by Charlie Fellowes for owner/breeder Anthony Oppenheimer, the daughter of Gleneagles was the sole newcomer in the mile contest and was ridden towards the back of the field by Callum Shepherd. Making headway from three furlongs out, she was pushed along approaching the final furlong and kept on well to score by a length and a quarter.
Connections may seek black-type for Purple Ribbon, who is closely related to two Stakes winners.
