Well Related Son Of Australia Gains Stylish Maiden Victory

Traila (3g Australia - Waila, by Showcasing) produced a smart performance after a long lay-off to gain his maiden victory at Wolverhampton on Saturday.

Absent since a promising debut in April, Sir Michael Stoute’s charge was sent off a short-priced favourite for the nine and a half furlong contest. Chasing the leaders for much of the way under Daniel Muscutt, he was shaken up to lead approaching the two furlong marker and kept on well to win by a length and a half. The first pair home drew five and a half lengths clear of the third.

Owned and bred by Sir Evelyn De Rothschild, Traila is the first foal out of Stakes winner Waila; herself a half-sister to Listed winner Crystal Star. Crystal Star is also known as the dam of Group 1 winner Crystal Ocean, who began his stallion career at the Beeches Stud last year.
