For the second sale in less than a week, Justify had a yearling sell for seven figures when his colt out of stakes winner Joie de Soir topped the first Arqana August session at €1.25 million. Offered by the Fairway Consignment, Godolphin snapped him up mid-session. “He's an extremely nice horse – beautiful conformation and from an excellent farm,” Anthony Stroud said after signing the ticket on behalf of Godolphin. “And of course, Justify is doing so well. He's a wonderful stallion and we're very grateful to secure [the colt].” Bred by Rockhart Trading in Ireland, the colt’s dam was purchased by his breeder for 750,000gns carrying the colt at the 2024 Tattersalls December Mares sale. That price made her the sixth most expensive in-foal mare of the Sceptre session. Joie de Soir not only won two stakes but was also placed in multiple Group 2 races. The mare out of Highest Ever is a half-sister to the stakes winner Chemistry and the stakes placed duo of Villa d’Amore and Rose d’Etoile. The colt’s third dam is the Group 1 winner Alpine Rose, who is one of two Grade 1 winners for the stakes winning Fragrant Hill alongside Fragrant Mix with the family also including Group 1 placed Stay Alert and Fraloga. Godolphin has found success with Justify runners in the past as the owner of his 2025 Gr.1 2000 Guineas winner Ruling Court.
