For the second straight day, Jack Christopher sired a winner when Glycogen (2f Jack Christopher x My Sugar Bear, by Giant’s Causeway) won an Ellis Park Maiden Special Weight in her second start. Stepping up to 1 1/16 miles on the turf after debuting over 5 ½ furlongs on the same surface, Glycogen spent much of the run in mid-pack about three lengths off the leader. Racing between horses, she waited patiently in the turn before Yedsit Hazlewood tipped her to the outside. Coming up the center of the track, she made a serious bid with a furlong left to run and grabbed the lead in the final sixteenth to win by 1 ¼ lengths in the end. Trained by John Servis, Glycogen races for Main Line Racing Stable and Avalon Racing Stable and was also fourth in her debut. The Allen Poindexter-bred out of My Sugar Bear was a $180,000 yearling purchase as a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Friar’s Road and the stakes placed Vevina. Their two-time winning dam My Sugar Bear is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Cupid’s Claws and stakes winner All For Thee, who produced the stakes placed Savage Battle. This is also the family of Grade 2 winner Guided Tour. It has been a huge few weeks for Jack Christopher, who has sired four winners since July 19.
