Coolmore
It was two more millionaire yearlings for Justify this week when the stallion had six sell in Book 1 at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. Blandford Bloodstock went to 1,300,000gns to secure a regally bred Clara Stud-offered colt out of Entreat with just a few lots remaining in Book 1. Bred by Cn Farm in Ireland, the colt is a half-brother to champion juvenile and Coolmore stallion Camille Pissarro, Group 1 winner Golden Horde, and stakes winners Exhort and Line of Departure. Another one of his half-sisters is also the dam of the stakes placed Annie’s Song. “I still have goosebumps,” said James Cloney. “Brilliant result once again for the wondermare Entreat – she just left it behind her in the ring again. The amount of pacing I have done over the past two hours! Great individual and, to break the million mark again, it's a huge thing for us.” This is also a strong American family with his granddam a half-sister to champion and successful broodmare Serena’s Song. That mare produced Group 1 winner Sophisticat and three other stakes winners with her stakes winning daughter producing champion Honor Code. The page also includes Group 1 winner Zabeel Prince and Group 2 winner Puissance de Lune. M V Magnier and White Birch Farm teamed up for a 1,600,000gns colt from Marhill House Stud. Bred by Rockhart Trading, the colt’s time in the ring was perfect timing to capitalize on an update, selling just days after his juvenile full brother Hmas Perth registered a nice maiden victory for Coolmore and Westerberg. “Aidan [O'Brien] thinks that the brother [Hmas Perth] is definitely a Group horse,” said Magnier. “Justify is going very well, so we're delighted to get him.” This colt is also a half-brother to the Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Poker Face and stakes winner and multiple Grade 3-placed Star Devine from his dam Stars At Night’s four runners. That winning Galileo mare is a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winner Blue Bunting and to the dam of Group 2 winner Darnation. Stars At Night had a full brother to this colt this year. In all, Justify’s six sold in Book 1 registered an outstanding average of 667,500gns – over 300,000gns more than the sale average. His average was third best of any stallion with more than one sold while his 4,005,000gns gross was the best of any stallion with less than 10 sold.
