Already the sire of two stakes winners in his first crop of 2-year-olds, Corniche’s second crop colt was snatched up quickly at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga when Arroyo Bloodstock went to $325,000 to purchase him. Offered by Gainesway and bred by Sunset Stables, the colt was a $170,000 weanling purchase last year by Violet Stables. The colt’s Curlin dam has produced three winners from three to race and herself is a half-sister to the stakes winning Diamonds R and out of the stakes winning Epitome of a Lady. Diamonds R has produced three winners from three to race with the group including the stakes placed Maximum Sparkle. This is also the family of Gr.1 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming and Grade 1 winners Hot Dixie Chick and Pauline’s Pearl among others. Corniche’s two stakes winners and one graded stakes winner leads all North American sires by juvenile stakes winners and juvenile graded stakes winners in 2026.
