Corniche daughter Mi Amor Morena (2f Corniche x Balandra Bay, by Tiznow) was the newest winner for her leading sire on Wednesday when she won a Finger Lakes Maiden Special Weight by an easy five lengths. The best out of the gate in the 5 ½ furlong dirt race, she dueled early with another runner before that one yielded and left Mi Amor Morena alone on the lead. The filly built up a comfortable margin and in the stretch widened it even farther to have a five lengths advantage at the line. Mi Amor Morena is trained by Linda Dixon for Andrew Stronach and was bred in New York by Chesapeake Farm, Three Times A Charm, and Bullet Stables. She is out of Tiznow daughter Balandra Bay, who has produced three winners from four to race and is a daughter of three-time champion Morena. Morena produced dual Grade 1 winner Creator among her own six winners this is also the family of champion Maitena. Champion juvenile Corniche has passed his precociousness to his runners with his three stakes winners, one graded stakes winner, and one Grade 1 performer the best of all freshmen sires.
