Gunite had a huge Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale earlier this week and is preparing for another group to go under the hammer on August 16 and 17 with 11 of his first crop yearlings cataloged in the Fasig-Tipton New York Breds Sale. The second through the ring for Gunite is the Taylor Made Sales-offered Hip 369, whose page has plenty going on. That mare is already off to a good start as a broodmare with her daughter Cheetah Lady giving the colt an update after finishing third in the G3 Gallorette S. recently and her other runner winning five times. A half-brother to two winners from three to race, his granddam also has an impressive resume. A two-time Grade 1 winner, Lazy Slusan was the first of three generations of Grade 1 winners as the dam of Grade 1 winner Last Full Measure and granddam of Grade 1 winner Valiance. Every dam on this page has produced at least one stakes performers with three of them also winning or placing in stakes as well. The Hill ‘n’ Dale-offered Hip 402 is another colt with a strong pedigree and is bred on a golden cross. Light The Sky’s dam has produced 12 winners overall with another one of her winners the granddam of multiple Grade 2 winner Somelikeithotbrown and two other stakes winners. This page also includes champions Big Blue Kitten and Juliette with 22 stakes performers overall named under his third dam alone. If that wasn’t enough, the colt is bred on the same Gun Runner x Tapit mare cross as seven stakes winners and 15 stakes performers from 56 runners, led by dual Grade 1 winner Society. Their Speightstown dam is a full sister to Grade 3 winner and Gr.2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf runner-up Bridgetown and a half-sister to three other stakes winners. This is also the extended family of multiple Grade 1 winner Strike The Gold, who is a full brother to the colt’s fourth dam. He’s far from the only successful horse in the family with 14 stakes performers listed under the colt’s first four dams. Hip 558 offered by Taylor Made for Walford Farm is out of a proven mare in Westside Singer. A four-time winner, Westside Singer is one of three winners and three stakes producers out of stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Zawzooth with her runners led by Tyro S. second Bay Numbers. Also on the page are Grade 2 winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Keepmeinmind and Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Mellow Fellow. Westside Singer returned to Coolmore last year, visiting Domestic Product and foaling a filly in April. This page is a very active one with Zenda’s granddaughter Minnie Hauk a three-time Group 1 winner last term and a Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed runner in 2026.
