Saint or Sinners’ homebred Justify juvenile Just for Pipa (2c Justify x Arya’slightnbolt, by Bolt d’Oro) stayed undefeated in two starts on Saturday with a Bowman Mill S. win at Keeneland. Breaking from the middle of the pack in the six furlong dirt race, Just for Pipa sat about five lengths off the leaders early when racing in the three-path behind a pressured leader. Racing into the stretch, Edgar Morales took him a few paths wider and it gave the colt the clear ground he needed to get to the front. Three lengths behind the top two going into the final furlong, Just for Pipa was able to catch them just before the wire to win by a neck in a three horse photo for the win. Trained by Greg Foley, Just for Pipa is out of the Bolt d’Oro mare Arya’slighnbolt, who is a half-sister to two winners from three to race out of Mundy Road. A winning Lonhro mare, Mundy Road is a half-sister to the stakes winning Magic Hour and Grade 3-placed McCormick and out of the four-time Grade 1 winner Affluent. Just for Pipa’s fifth dam is the great Bayakoa, who is also the granddam of three-time Grade 1 winner Fort Larned. Just for Pipa is the fourth juvenile stakes winner of the year for Justify, putting him second among all North American sires with Justify also leading the juvenile sire rankings by juvenile graded stakes winners and Grade 1 winners.
