The Gr.3 Kentucky Downs Ladies Marathon went the way of Stellify (5m Justify x Savvy Star, by Medaglia d’Oro) on Sunday with the mare getting her second win in the race after a first career stakes victory in it last year. Going off as a heavy favorite in the 1 5/16-mile race, Stellify leapt to the front and set a comfortable pace. Allowed to do as she saw fit by Flavien Prat in the early stages, she was asked for a little more in the turn. Under the easiest of efforts, she used the long stretch to build her lead to 5 ½ lengths at the line while continuing to draw away. Trained by Brad Cox for Elements Racing, George Messina, and Michael Lee, Stellify has won five of nine races with two other top three finishes for over $2.3 million in earnings. The WinStar Farm-bred is one of three winners from three to race out of the winning Medaglia d’Oro mare Savvy Star. That mare is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Bluegrass Cat, Grade 2 winner Dramedy, Grade 3 winner Lord of the Game, stakes winner Sonoma Cat, and Grade 2-placed Cal Nation. The family has 16 stakes performers under Stellify’s first two dams alone. Justify is the sire of 17 stakes winners and 33 stakes performers in 2026 with both numbers putting him in the top four of all North American sires.
