It was a second stakes win in four starts for Panda Listen (2f Tiz The Law x Lightning Lucy, by Giant’s Causeway) on Saturday with a win in the Best of Ohio John W. Galbreath S. at Mahoning Valley. Going off as a very heavy favorite in the 1 1/16-mile dirt race, she showed she outclassed the field from the start. Allowed to gallop on the lead early, she steadily grew her margin throughout the run with 6 ½ lengths on the field going into the final furlong. No one had a chance to catch her as she added another five lengths to that while coasting home to win by 11 ¾ lengths. Trained by Brendan Walsh for Emcee Stable, Panda Listen kicked off her career with a stakes second and has run exclusively in stakes company from the start. She has three top two finishes in four starts for earnings for $135,500. A $200,000 2-year-old purchase in April by Corbin Blumberg from Grade One Investments, Panda Listen was bred by Smokin C. Panda Listen is one of six winners from six to race out of Lightning Lucy. This family includes Grade 1 winners Devil His Due and Arrocha and champion Writer’s Almanac among others. Tiz The Law is the sire of 12 stakes winners and 29 stakes performers this year with that group led by two Grade 1 winners and three Grade 1 performers.
