Making his second career start at Gulfstream on Sunday, Ty Webb (2c Epicenter x Henley, by Corinthian) became a 13th winner for Epicenter. Ty Webb had no desire to get into the battle for the lead early and instead took up back marker duties. He stayed seven lengths off the front runners throughout much of the middle stages of the race but crept closer to be in a solid position in the turn. Coming into the stretch three wide, Ty Webb switched into full gear to chase down the leader, passing every horse in the field to get to the front. He collared the front runner inside the final sixteenth and pulled way to win by 1 ½ lengths with the third placed runner finishing 7 ½ lengths behind. Ty Webb is trained by Kent Sweezy for Star Night Racing and has made both his starts at Gulfstream. The Machmer Hall and D + D Racing Stable-bred is a half-brother to Practical Joke’s Grade 3 winning Girl with a Dream among his five winning siblings out of Henley. Henley herself is a half-sister to seven winners out of the stakes winning Joustabout, whose best runners are multiple Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Mr. Commons and stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Jungle Fighter. Henley had a Practical Joke colt this year. Epicenter’s first crop includes 13 winners, led by a stakes winner and four other stakes performers in 2026.
