Wave Maker (2c Jack Christopher x Wave Pattern, by Medaglia d’Oro) was the 14th winner for Jack Christopher on Monday night – putting him second by winners behind only Golden Pal on the first-crop sires list. Debuting going five furlongs on the dirt at Mountaineer, Wave Maker was one of the widest horses breaking from the gate and stayed to the outside near the back of the pack early on. Going into the turn, he figured out the game and made a huge move to put himself in contention for the lead into the stretch. Inside the final furlong, Wave Maker took off to kick well clear of the rest of the field for a 4 ½ length victory. Wave Maker is trained by Bill Morey for Joseph Morey Jr. with the colt bought out of the OBS June Sale. Bred by Five Rings Racing, Wave Maker is the second winner from two to race out of his Medaglia d’Oro dam. Wave Pattern is out of a half-sister to Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Michita, Group 3 placed Cat O’Mountain and five other stakes performers from 10 winners out of the Grade 3 winning Thunder Kitten. Others on this page include Grade 1 winner Wet Paint and champions War Affair and Sir Charles Road. Wave Pattern had an American Pharoah colt last year. Jack Christopher is the sire of 14 winners, led by a stakes winner with the freshman also having four stakes performers to his name – ranking fourth by stakes performers in addition to second by winners.
