Coolmore
A homebred for Woppitt Bloodstock that was foaled and raised at Coolmore, Lindermann (7g Lonhro x Self Esteem, by Stratum) has amazingly only ever won the one G1 race which was the ATC Rosehill Guineas as a 3YO, but he has cut a swathe through the Sydney WFA races from 1600 to 2000m and one of his favourites is the $750,000 Group II ATC Craven Plate (1800m). Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by Nash Rawiller, Lindermann won the race for the third year in a row at Randwick on Saturday when setting the tempo in his usual role at the head of proceedings. The 7YO Lonhro gelding bowled along and gave a good kick to win by a length over 6YO Tom Kitten, who won the Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes on this day as a three year-old. “He’s an absolute ripper. He just goes about his business, he’s tradesman-style. He’s won over $6 million in prizemoney. Congratulations to (owners) Debbie and Paul (Kepitis), the family, the girls,” said stable representative Darren Beadman. “I think there’s only two other horses that have won it three years’ running and that’s Phar Lap and Chatham.” (Gloaming also won it three times but not in successive years). Lindermann has the overall record of 10 wins and 14 placings from 44 starts with prizemoney of $6.1million. Lindermann is the best of four winners from five foals to race from stakes-placed Stratum mare Self Esteem, who comes from the family of Group I stars Assertive Lad, Assertive Las and Reset. Self Esteem has a two year-old filly by Pierro called Caillat that is a three-quarter sister to Lindermann and has foaled this spring producing a filly by St Mark’s Basilica.
