Tantardini (2c No Nay Never - Roly Poly, by War Front) stepped forward from his initial outing to strike at Dundalk on Wednesday. The Ballydoyle-trained colt finished fourth on his debut at Navan in May and was returning after a break to get off the mark at the second attempt. Ridden by Jack Cleary, Tantardini led early before settling back into second and chased the clear leader from three furlongs out. The colt took up the lead with two furlongs left to run and asserted in the final hundred yards to score by three-quarters of a length from Golden Idol (by No Nay Never). Cleary said: “He's just back from a short break and he kept answering every question when I asked him. “We were tipping along at a nice pace, and I just got my lad comfortable and, in fairness to him, he picked up well off the bend. He came home nicely. “The step up to a mile would be okay for him too, but it is nice to get the winner today.” Tantardini was bred by Orpendale, Chelston and Wynatt.
