Celtic Motif (4f Saxon Warrior - Art Institute, by Arch) gained a deserved first win when running out a decisive scorer at Killarney on Tuesday. The Saxon Warrior filly had run some fine races in defeat for Joseph O’Brien at two, including when fourth to subsequent dual Group 1 winner Whirl in the Group 3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes at the Curragh. She had then switched to Brendan Walsh in America and also ran well in good company. Now back in O’Brien's care, Celtic Motif was a warm favourite to strike and she duly obliged, making all under Oisin Murphy and pulling six lengths clear of her nearest rival at the line. Murphy said: “It’s nice to win on her. She was a standout in the race, she had good form before she went to America for Joseph and had very good form over in America.” Celtic Motif was bred by Kildaragh Stud.
