Trustyourinstinct (6g Churchill - Gussy Goose, by Danehill Dancer) added another Group-race win to his name with a fast-finishing score in the Group 2 Curragh Cup at the Curragh on Sunday. The McManus homebred has proved a durable and versatile sort during his career for Joseph O’Brien and JP McManus, his wins including Group 3 scores at Leopardstown and the Curragh in recent seasons. Ridden by Declan McDonogh, Trustyourinstinct was held up in rear and was travelling well when switching left from two furlongs out. The gelding quickened up to defeat Happy Pharoah (by American Pharoah) by three-quarters of a length, with Al Riffa (by Wootton Bassett) a further three-quarters of a length back in third. O'Brien said: "He always runs well here at the Curragh. Stepping up in trip today, I think the race set up pretty well for him. He's a good horse. We were pretty happy with the trip, to be honest. I think Declan quietly fancied him. "He's run great all year and, like I say, particularly here. He's at his best here. He's a great servant. Potentially, he could go to the Melbourne Cup. It'll be an option for him for sure."
