Zoar (2c No Nay Never - Big Brothers Pride, by Invincible Spirit) got off the mark at the second attempt with a comfortable win at Naas on Sunday. Previously trained by Josh Halley, the colt had finished second to subsequent Group 2 Richmond Stakes winner Man's Best Friend (by No Nay Never) on debut at the track last month. Now in the care of Donnacha O'Brien, Zoar went one better when striking by a length and a quarter under Chris Hayes, racing prominently on the near side before challenging for the lead at the one-furlong marker. The colt kept on to strike by a length and a quarter. O’Brien said: “He’s a grand horse. I haven't had him that long and, in fairness to the Halleys, they did a great job with him. I only did one breeze with him last weekend and it went nicely, so we said we’d come here. He’s a nice horse to get. “I think he’s still a little bit green, he pricked his ears when he got to the front there." He added: “I think he’ll get another furlong, but I’m not convinced he’s going to be a seven-furlong/mile horse. I’d say he’ll probably get quicker as he gets older. “It was a nice performance. I’d imagine we’ll have a look at stakes company next time and see where he stands at that level.” Zoar was bred by Orpendale.
