Nobelos (2c Sioux Nation - Ultra Violet, by Gleneagles) got off the mark at the second attempt with a game win at Ascot on Friday. The Charlie Hills-trained colt was building on a debut fourth at Windsor last month and he stepped up to become another juvenile scorer for his in-form sire, the source of Group 1 Phoenix Stakes winner Sun Goddess among others this term. Ridden by Rob Hornby, Nobelos was in touch with the leaders and pressed the front-runners from three furlongs out, leading narrowly inside the final furlong to score by three-quarters of a length. In third was War Chest (by Saxon Warrior). A full-brother to the Group-placed Stop The Nation, Nobelos was bred by Cottage Bloodstock.
