Avec Toi (2c No Nay Never - La Joconde, by Frankel) maintained his unbeaten record with a battling score in the Group 3 Prix la Rochette at Longchamp on Sunday. The Orpendale, Chelston, Wynatt and Westerberg-bred colt was landing a second Group win in a row and third black-type victory overall, having won the Listed Prix Roland de Chambure at Deauville in July after an impressive debut Saint-Cloud success in June. He stepped up from his Deauville win to capture the Group 3 Prix Francois Boutin by four lengths last month. Ridden again by Pierre-Charles Boudot, the Christopher Head-trained colt led and was joined from two furlongs out before staying on well a furlong out and gamely winning by a neck at the line. Head said: “It was a tactical race, so we didn't have many options to do something else other than make the running. It was a nice fight with a very nice horse and we've discovered there's a very good horse to beat next time too. He did a great job today and I'm very happy he won. There's a lot to work on between now and the [Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc] Lagardere.”
