Venetian Temple (2f St Mark’s Basilica - Gokena, by Kendargent) got off the mark with a straightforward win at Vittel on Sunday. Trained by Tim Donworth, the daughter of St Mark’s Basilica was ridden by Guillaume Trolley de Prevaux and the pair raced behind the leader before taking up the lead turning into the home straight. Venetian Temple went clear to win by a comfortable two and a half lengths. Venetian Temple was bred by Haras des Sablonnets and A De Talhouet-Roy. St Mark's Basilica's great season has been headed by unbeaten dual French Classic winner Diamond Necklace and this month's Group 1 Prix Jean Prat winner Thesecretadversary.
