Piccola Piuma (3f Saxon Warrior - Shaaqaaf, by Sepoy) added another Group-race win to her record with success in the Premio Verziere Memorial Aldo Cirla at San Siro on Sunday. Trained by Stefano Botti, the Saxon Warrior filly had claimed Classic honours in the Group 2 Italian Oaks in June and she proved game in winning this Group 3 by a neck. Ridden by Fabio Branca, Piccola Piuma rallied against the strong-travelling Revoir inside the final furlong and stayed on gallantly to strike. In third was Sioux Life (by Sioux Nation). Piccola Piuma, who was bred by Suroben, is one of a number of high-class performers for her sire this year. The others include Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac winner Green Empress and brilliant Australian filly Sheza Alibi.
