Midak (4g Footstepsinthesand - Minya, by Sinndar) returned to winning ways with a gritty score in the Listed Chester Stakes at Chester on Saturday. The son of Footstepsinthesand had won the Group 3 Prix Greffulhe at Saint-Cloud last year for Francis Graffard and the Aga Khan Studs before running in the Epsom Derby behind Lambourn (by Australia). Now trained by Ian Williams, the four-year-old was notching up a second stakes victory. Ridden by Paul Mulrennan, Midak led before being headed and he then regained the lead from two furlongs out. The gelding was headed again inside the final furlong but battled back gamely to lead towards the finish and strike by a neck. Midak was bred by the Aga Khan Studs.
