Al Arraab (2c St Mark’s Basilica - Tanaaghom, by Dubawi) landed his first win at the second attempt when striking at Southwell on Saturday. The Richard and Peter Fahey-trained colt had finished second at Haydock last month to the unbeaten Sharadd and he duly went one place better this time around. Ridden by Oisin Orr, Al Arraab was in midfield and in touch with the leaders. He made headway against the near rail from a furlong out and kept on inside the final 110 yards to defeat Flick Of An Eye (by Blackbeard) by three-quarters of a length. A half-brother to Group 3 Solario Stakes winner A Bit Of Spirit, Al Arraab was bred by J Hanly, A Stroud and Ed's Stud.
