Blakey Ridge (2c Sioux Nation - Harlequin Star, by Ribchester) ran out a comfortable winner on just his second start at Thirsk on Friday. Trained by Declan Carroll, the son of Sioux Nation finished third at Carlisle on his debut and he stepped forward from that introduction with a clear-cut score over previous winner and odds-on favourite Blessed Voyager. Blakey Ridge was ridden by Zak Wheatley and the pair disputed the lead before leading from four furlongs out. The colt was asked for more and kept on well inside the final furlong to strike by a length and a half, with a further six lengths back to the third. Out of a half-sister to Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup victor Emaraaty Ana, Blakey Ridge was bred by Castlehyde Stud.
