Prosewriter (3g St Mark’s Basilica - Rime A Rien, by Amadeus Wolf) made the perfect start to his career with success at Southwell on Monday. The Archie Watson-trained gelding was towards the rear of the field early on, but made headway on the outer from two furlongs out. Ridden by Billy Loughnane, the three-year-old led inside the final furlong and kept on to strike by three-quarters of a length. A half-brother to Group 2 Sapphire Stakes winner Soffia and Listed scorer Nationalista, Prosewriter was bred by Haras de Montaigu.
