Niente Scuse (2c Churchill - Dubai Sunset, by Pivotal) became another stakes winner for his sire on Tuesday with victory in the Listed Premio Giuseppe de Montel at Milan. Trained by Endo Botti for Repole Stable, the son of Churchill had struck on debut at Napoli in May before winning a conditions contest over course and distance at Milan last month. He was taking the step up to black-type company in his stride. Ridden by Antonio Fresu, Niente Scuse set the pace and, despite showing signs of greenness, came home well to score by two lengths. Crazy Beard (by Blackbeard) finished third. Fresu said: “This win is very important for Italian racing. I think the decision of Mr Repole to send some horses into training in Italy, the country of his family, could boost the level of Italian racing. “Niente Scuse was still a bit green but won easily and could improve a lot in the second half of the season.” Niente Scuse was bred by Ballyphilip Stud and was the second stakes winner of the day for Churchill following Radiant Beauty's score in the Listed Pipalong Stakes at Pontefract. The son of Galileo has now sired 40 individual stakes winners, headed by champions Vadeni and Blue Rose Cen.
