The Mean Fiddler (2c No Nay Never - Counterparty Risk, by Australia) got off the mark with a comfortable win at Musselburgh on Monday. Having finished runner-up on his two previous runs at Pontefract and Ripon, the John and Sean Quinn-trained colt was sent off a warm favourite to make it third time lucky. He duly obliged with a three-quarter-length win in the hands of Jason Hart. The son of No Nay Never pressed the leader before disputing the lead with a furlong left to run. He led clearly inside the final 110 yards to win snugly. In third was Sable Noir (by Blackbeard). Out of the Grade 3-winning Australia mare Counterparty Risk, The Mean Fiddler was bred by Lynch Bages and Camas Park Stud.
