Getmyfriend (5m Getaway - Simonsoeur, by Robin Des Champs) got off the mark over hurdles with a gritty score at Newton Abbot on Sunday. The Dan Skelton-trained Getaway mare had won a Southwell mares' bumper by two and three-quarter lengths in May and finished third on her hurdling debut at Newton Abbot earlier this month. Ridden by Harry Skelton, Getmyfriend was prominent and came to press the leader from two flights out. She led up the run-in and held on to win by a neck at the line. Out of a half-sister to the top-class Simonsig, Getmyfriend was bred by Virginia McGrath.
