Like An Ocean (4f Crystal Ocean - Brooklyn View, by Presenting) made the perfect start to her career with victory over hurdles at Roscommon on Monday. The Adrian Sexton-trained filly was ridden by Harry Sexton and the pair were in touch with the leaders before being slightly outpaced after four flights out. The Crystal Ocean filly rallied with three hurdles left to jump and she challenged for the lead approaching the last. She kept on up the run-in to score by a neck, with a further five lengths back to the third. Harry Sexton said: “We thought she had ability, we trained the half-sister and she won a maiden hurdle as well. I thought she’d probably learn a lot today. “I suppose a couple of things fell right for her, it was a messy race but she still had to be very gutsy to go out and beat horses with more experience. I think that was the impressive part and we’re delighted with her. “For a filly running her first ever race on the track to be that straightforward and not bat an eyelid, I think, was a great sign. Hopefully there are nice things to come in the future with her.” Like An Ocean was bred by Linda Motherway.
