Simple Things (4f Getaway - Wink Wink, by Galileo) gained her first win with a battling score over hurdles at Tramore on Friday. The McManus homebred had finished second at both Bellewstown and Wexford this spring and she was bouncing back to register a first win in the hands of Peter Smithers. Trained by Philip Dempsey, Simple Things was positioned prominently and was ridden before two flights out. The Getaway filly led narrowly inside the final 110 yards and battled gamely to strike by a neck. In third was Chasing Blues (by Walk In The Park). Dempsey said: "I'm delighted with that. She'd been knocking on the door, so it's great to get the win with her. She had a nice run in Galway and she learned a lot from that, I'd say. "She'll probably go back into handicap company now. She likes nice ground, so we'll look for something before the rain comes, although she's been on the go a while at this stage."
