Cocofred (5g Vadamos - Debut, by Presenting) got off the mark over hurdles with a comfortable win at Roscommon on Monday. The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding was building on a last-time-out fourth at Tramore and he was scoring with something in hand on his third hurdles start. Ridden by Darragh O'Keeffe, Cocofred was positioned prominently and came to dispute second from three flights out. The son of Vadamos was ridden to lead at the last hurdle and kept on well to win by a widening four lengths. Robbie Power said: “We’re delighted with that. He had a nice run in a bumper last year and he ran well enough in Tramore but we were a little bit disappointed. “He’s come on plenty for that. That good ground is key to him and Darragh said he really appreciated it. “I’m delighted for Jamie Allday [owner]. He was over in Limerick on Thursday but unfortunately couldn’t be here this evening. “Darragh said he was long over the last three hurdles, he has plenty of scope to him. He'll go jumping fences in time but we’ll tip away over hurdles for this summer.” Cocofred was bred by Seosamh Murphy.
