Another G1 Clement L. Hirsch Win for Adare Manor
It was a second straight Grade I Clement L. Hirsch Stakes victory for Adare Manor (5m Uncle Mo x Brooklynsway, by Giant Gizmo) on Saturday at Del Mar.
Looking for her third straight victory, the mare stalked the leaders the 1 1/16 mile dirt race until they reached the far turn. It was at that point that Juan Hernandez released the heavy race favorite and Adare Manor got to work.
Asked to go after longtime leader Scylla, Adare Manor reeled her in in midstretch before starting to add distance to her margin. In the end, Adare Manor won by 2 ¾ lengths over Scylla with the third placed runner nearly five lengths behind in the end. The victory earned her a spot in the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Distaff in November.
This was the 10th victory in 18 starts for Adare Manor, who took her earnings to $2,096,600 with the win. In all, the Michael Lund Petersen representative has finished in the top two in 15 of 18 starts for trainer Bob Baffert.
Bred by Town and Country Horse Farms and Gary Broad, she’s out of the Grade III winning Brooklynsway.
That mare is a half-sister to Explosive Leah, who produced the stakes placed duo of Giant Teddy and Little Teddy.
Brooklynsway produced a full brother to Adare Manor in 2023.
This was the second stakes winner of the day for Uncle Mo and second Grade I winner for him in just over a month after Kingsbarns earned a Grade I Breeders’ Cup Classic berth with a Grade I Stephen Foster victory.
