Jackie The Joker Continues Sire’s Winning Saturday

Hours after siring his fourth stakes winner, Practical Joke registered his 21st worldwide winner when Jackie The Joker (2f Practical Joke x Latitude Forty, by Chester House) won a Maiden Special Weight at Charles Town.

The 6 ½ furlong dirt race saw Jackie The Joker break on top before settling on the rail in third with the top three over five lengths ahead of the rest of the pack. In the final three furlongs Jackie The Joker made her challenge as the race favorite.

It wasn’t going to be an easy win for the filly, who had to show her determination in a prolonged duel with Timeisgolden down the stretch. Jackie The Joker started to get the advantage in the final five strides for a nose victory with the rest of the field 5 ¾ lengths behind the battling pair.

Trained by Anthony Farrior, the filly is owned by John Fanelli, LC Racing, and Longball Stables and was bred by Carolyn Vogel.

Jackie The Joker is out of multiple stakes winner Latitude Forty, who has produced six winners from six to race with 20 wins between them. The family also includes Argentinian champion Kalithea among others.

Latitude Forty returned to Ashford this season to be bred to another leading freshman sire in Caravaggio.
