Stakes Performer Cholly Newest Winner for Mo Town
The stakes-placed Cholly (2f Mo Town x Tap Tap Ur It, by Tapit) put a check in the win column on Friday night with a Del Mar Maiden Special Weight victory to become Mo Town’s 19th winner.
Racing over a speedy six furlongs, the Ryan Hanson trainee was happy to race in midpack as the leader ran away from the field nearly out of the gate. That one didn’t come back to the field until well into the turn and by that time Cholly was flying down the rail.
Cholly slipped inside the pacesetter as they entered the stretch and she proved to be a fitting race favorite with just one horse within nearly four lengths of her at the end.
Co-owned by her trainer, Cholly also represents Richard Pearson and George and Joan Scott on the track. She was bred in California by Richard Barton Enterprises.
Cholly is a half-sister to the stakes winning Tap Back and from the family of Grade III winner Casino Magistrate among others.
Mo Town’s 19 winners puts him seventh among all freshman sires with that group including five stakes performers and two stakes winners.
