Another day, another Camelot Group winner
A day after Latrobe (3c Camelot-Question Times, by Shamardal)’s fabulous G1 Irish Derby victory, his red-hot sire Camelot was responsible for another Group-race winning three-year-old in Italy on Sunday.
Wait Forever (3c Camelot-Mount McLeod, by Holy Roman Emperor), winner of this season’s Italian 2,000 Guineas, took on older rivals in the G3 Premio del Giubileo in Milan and added another big-race success to his record.
Jockey Dario Vargiu switched to the outside in the final two furlongs with a decisive move that ensured a half-length success for owners Scuderia Effevi and the Botti family’s training operation.
“He is very game and has plenty of ability. He failed to stay in the Derby Italiano, but I think he could be effective over 2,000 metres,” said Vargiu.
Wait Forever was bred in Ireland by Pier House Stud.
