Outrun The Storm (2c Footstepsinthesand - Sweet Surprise, by Danetime) produced a late challenge to land Friday’s six furlong juvenile contest at Ayr.
The Richard Fahey-trained colt finished third over course and distance on debut in July and once again raced towards the back of the field on Friday. Asked to quicken approaching the two furlong marker, he made good headway under Paddy Mathers, getting up close home to deny maiden winner Nastase by a neck on the line.
Owned by Middleham Park Racing, Outrun The Storm was bred by Joseph McGrath completed the first leg of a two-year-old double on the day for Footstepsinthesand.
Earlier that day, The Henri-Alex Pantall-trained Havoc (2c Footstepsinthesand - Chasing Stars, by Observatory) made it third time lucky in the mile maiden at Nantes.
Third and fourth on his two previous starts, the Haras de la Gousserie-owned chesnut progressed to win by three and a half lengths on Friday. Bred by Sarl Darpat France, Havoc is a son of Listed winner Chasing Stars.
Castlehyde Stud sire Footstepsinthesand had also sired a smart pair of two-year-old winners the previous day.
