Australia Colt Makes Successful Foray Into Stakes Company
Mohican Heights (2c Australia - Mohican Princess, by Shirley Heights) made it two from two when taking the Listed Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury on his first start for new connections.
A winner on debut for Fozzy Stack in May, he was subsequently sold at the Goffs London Sale for £520,000 to David Simcock, who now trains the colt for Qatar Racing and Sun Bloodstock.
Jamie Spencer took the ride on Friday, tracking the leaders for much of the mile contest and was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong. Staying on well, success never looked in doubt and the chesnut scored by two lengths.
Bred by Kevin Molloy, Mohican Heights is closely related to multiple Stakes winner Eye Of The Storm (Galileo) and is a half-brother to another four black-type performers.
