Australia Colt Pounces Late To Win On Debut

The Jean-Pierre Carvalho-trained Mare Australis (2c Australia - Miramare, by Rainbow Quest) swooped late to make a winning debut at Munich on Sunday.

Racing over a mile, the Gestut Schlenderhan-owned colt was positioned in midfield and was ridden from two furlongs out. Racing home strongly, he led close home and ran on to win by half a length.

Mare Australis was bred by Stall Ullmann out of the multiple Listed-placed mare Miramare, herself a half-sister to four Stakes horses, including Group 1 performer Macleya. Miramare has a yearling filly by Camelot.
