Australia on scoresheet

Australia has caught the imagination of breeders from around the world and he enjoyed his first success as a sire on Saturday in the south of Russia.

Australian Prince (2c Australia-Mail Princess, by Pivotal) was making his debut in a local Group 3 event over six furlongs at Krasnodar and got up to win the 11-runner contest under jockey Alexander Ivanskoy.

The juvenile was home-bred by Progress Stud, based close to Krasnodar, and bids to follow the impressive record of Mail Princess, his dam.

Tom Pritchard-Gordon of Badgers Bloodstock told the Racing Post: “Mail Princess won the Russian 1,000 Guineas and Oaks and was one of the best fillies in the country for years… It is pleasing to see her class is coming through to her offspring now. It is a very good Newsells Park family and Australian Prince is clearly a very precocious colt.”
