Amma Grace (Galileo) Wins The Listed Trigo Stakes at Leopardstown

Beautifully Bred Galileo Gains Deserved Stakes Success

Moyglare Stud’s consistent homebred Amma Grace (3f Galileo - Polished Gem, by Danehill) gained a deserved black-type success on Saturday when taking the Listed Trigo Stakes at Leopardstown.

The Dermot Weld-trained filly had finished in the first four on all her starts this season, most recently when claiming runners-up honours in the Group 2 Blandford Stakes won by Cayenne Pepper (Australia). Oisin Orr took the ride at the weekend, guiding the bay in a prominent position and asserted approaching the two furlong marker. Soon clear, she quickened home well in the straight and was ridden out to hold off the fast-finishing Numerian (Holy Roman Emperor) by a neck on the line.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “Oisin gave her a good ride and the filly deserved it. She ran an excellent second in the Group 2 Blandford. I just wanted to win a stakes race with her this year. She's a stakes winning filly now and a beautifully bred filly for Moyglare. I'll speak with Eva Maria Haefner but I'd say the plan will be to keep her in training next year."

Amma Grace is a full-sister to dual Irish St Leger heroine Search For A Song (Galileo) and Listed winner Falcon Eight (Galileo), while half-brother Free Eagle (High Chaparral) won the Group 1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes.
