Footsteps colt tops DBS Breeze-Up
A speedy son of Footstepsinthesand was the most sought-after offering at Doncaster’s Breeze-Up Sale on Thursday when selling for £185,000.
Stephen Hillen outbid Ross Doyle and David Redvers to get the colt (pictured) out of Notting Hill (by Jules), bred by Northern Bloodstock Inc. He who will race for Frank Gillespie, owner of The Grey Gatsby (4c Mastercraftsman-Marie Vision, by Entrepeneur).
“He did one of the fastest times of the day in the breeze and did everything right,” said Hillen. “Frank Gillespie gave me an order to get a horse and this was number one on my list.”
Second top price was the £170,000 paid by Matt Coleman of Anthony Stroud Bloodstock for a Scat Daddy colt out of Champion Ride (by Candy Ride) who will join James Given. Offered from Lynn Lodge Stud, the colt showed a good profit on the $37,000 he had cost as a yearling when bought by Alex Elliott at Keeneland.
