Footsteps filly lands G3 Classic trial
Barefoot Lady (3f Footstepsinthesand-Lady Angharad, by Tenby) showed off her Classic credentials with a victory in the G3 Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket on Wednesday.
The Footstepsinthesand filly looked better than ever as she battled well under champion jockey Paul Hanagan and could now be supplemented for the G1 1000 Guineas.
Trainer Richard Fahey told PA Sport: "She's only slight, but Paul said they don't come much tougher. I've got to have a proper chat with the owner about supplementing for the Guineas, but he is keen.
"There was a question mark today about the trip but on that display, she should stay a mile. I've had a runner in the Oaks before, but never in the Guineas. We're not used to this!"
Winning owner Normal Steel added: "The Guineas will be the trainer's decision, but if you asked us, we're keen."
Barefoot Lady, who was bred by Arbawny Ventures 2000uc, was bought by agent Gill Richardson for 32,000 euros at the Goresbridge breeze-up sale in May.
