Footstepsinthesand Colt Makes All To Gain Maiden Success
Governor Of Punjab (2c Footstepsinthesand - Simla Bibi, by Indian Ridge) made all to justify favouritism in Wednesday's seven furlong Novice Stakes at Chelmsford.
The Mark Johnston-trained colt was also sent off favourite on debut eight days earlier, when he finished a promising fifth over a furlong shorter. Ridden by Adam Kirby, he was pushed along to maintain his advantage from two furlongs out and asserted inside the final furlong. The winning margin was three parts of a length, with a further two and a half lengths back to the third horse.
Bred by Mrs Joan Murphy and owned by Rob Ferguson, Governor Of Punjab is a half-brother to two Stakes horses, while his dam is related to four, including Johnston’s multiple Stakes winner Gateman.
