Footstepsinthesand Filly Digs Deep For Maiden Success

Acquiescent (3f Footstepsinthesand - Chevanah, by Chevalier) built on her promise last season to make a winning return in Monday’s six furlong fillies maiden at Fairyhouse.

The John Murphy-trained filly was last seen finishing third at Dundalk in September, having previously finished fifth behind a subsequent Stakes performer in Nurse Barbara. Ridden prominently by Killian Leonard, the bay produced a challenge approaching the two furlong marker and soon led. Keeping on well under pressure as Lilandra delivered a strong challenge, she prevailed by half a length on the line.

The winning trainer also bred the daughter of Footstepsinthesand in partnership with owner Donal Mac A’Bhaird. The pair previously enjoyed four wins with Acquiescent’s full-brother Confrontational.
