Badb (Footstepsinthesand) Wins The Fillies Maiden At Cork

Footstepsinthesand Filly Gets Off The Mark In Style

Badb (2f Footstepsinthesand - Belong, by Fastnet Rock) earned a step up in class when running out a commanding winner of the six furlong fillies’ maiden at Cork.

A close third last time out, the Donnacha O’Brien-trained bay was reunited with Gavin Ryan on Wednesday and raced prominently throughout. Pushed along after the two furlong marker, she led entering the final furlong and drew clear to win by three and a half lengths.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “Badb had worked like a good filly all along. She's in the Albany although she I’d more likely to go to the Curragh on Derby weekend.”

Owned and bred by Mrs Ann Marie O’Brien, Badb becomes the first winner out of homebred mare Belong (Fastnet Rock).
