Footstepsinthesand Filly Goes One Better In Dundalk Maiden
The Joseph O’Brien-trained Anann (3f Footstepsinthesand - Instinctively, by Cape Cross) took another step forward on Friday to take the seven furlong maiden at Dundalk.
Anne Mare O’Brien’s homebred suffered trouble in running on debut in November, but showed plenty of promise when narrowly beaten in a six furlong maiden next time out. Partnered by Hugh Horgan on Friday, she made most of the running and was ridden approaching the final furlong. Keeping on well, she held off a late challenge by half a length on the line, as the favourite Rochester Mike (Wootton Bassett) took third.
The daughter of Footstepsinthesand becomes the second winner out of Instinctively, who has a two-year-old full-sister to the winner.
